The River Dell Golden Hawks Freshman Football Team (7-0) achieved their fourth straight shutout and remained undefeated in the 2025 season with a 40-0 blowout win against the Teaneck Highwaymen at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

From the opening kickoff, River Dell was off and running, with kickoff returner Mark Spano bringing the ball back to the 39-yard line. The Golden Hawks' offense quickly advanced into Teaneck territory, fueled by a powerful running game led by quarterback Mark Spano, who broke free for a 26-yard gain.

On second down and goal at the seven-yard line, Chris Barone, under center, took the snap, dropped back, and threw a touchdown pass to Declan O'Donnell.

On their first offensive series, the Highwaymen decided to gamble on fourth down deep in their own territory, which backfired and resulted in a turnover on downs.

River Dell’s offense wasted no time capitalizing on the short field. Mark Spano lined up in the backfield, took a pitch from quarterback Chris Barone, and skillfully weaved through several defenders to reach the end zone for a 39-yard touchdown, extending the Golden Hawks' lead to 13-0.

Late in the second quarter, River Dell struck again, with quarterback Chris Barone taking the snap in shotgun formation. He rolled out to his right and threw a pass to Jake Van Wettering, who caught it and raced to the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown.

Just before halftime, the Golden Hawks' defense created havoc as Teaneck attempted a pass that went sideways. Mark Spano intercepted the pass at the Highwaymen's 30-yard line and sprinted down the left side of the field for a pick-six.

As the third quarter began, the River Dell defense forced another critical turnover, with James McNeil recovering a fumble at the Teaneck 35-yard line.

The Golden Hawks' offense took advantage of the short field once again. Quarterback Mark Spano completed a pass to Jaeden Raguindin, who displayed his elusiveness by spinning and advancing down to the Highwaymen's six-yard line.

Raguindin finished the drive in style, taking a pitch from Spano, cutting to his right and then back to the middle before powering across the goal line for a touchdown that expanded the lead to 34-0.

In the fourth quarter, Teaneck's special teams managed to flip field position with a lengthy kickoff return to the River Dell 21-yard line. However, the Golden Hawks' defense held strong, shutting down a running play on fourth and goal at the seven-yard line, resulting in an eight-yard loss and a turnover on downs.

River Dell struck one final blow as running back Noah Choflet took a handoff from quarterback Mark Spano at the 15-yard line. Choflet burst past multiple defenders and sprinted 85 yards to the end zone for a spectacular touchdown run, sealing the victory.

The Golden Hawks will hit the road on Saturday, October 17th, to face Pascack Valley, with kickoff scheduled for 9 a.m. at Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale, New Jersey.
