The River Dell Golden Hawks Freshman Football Team (5-0) continued its winning streak in the 2025 season with an impressive 20-0 shutout victory against the Morris Hills Knights at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.
The game began with a spectacular play as kickoff returner Jaeden Raguindin fielded the opening kickoff, swiftly navigating through an open lane in the middle of the field and breaking free to score an impressive 80-yard touchdown.
Following this, the Golden Hawks' defense quickly forced the Morris Hills offense into a three-and-out on their first possession.
Raguindin again displayed his remarkable speed on special teams by catching a punt at midfield, skillfully maneuvering through heavy traffic, and sprinting down the left side of the field to reach the pylon for another touchdown, extending River Dell's lead to 13-0 with less than seven minutes remaining in the first half.
Late in the second quarter, the Knights advanced into Golden Hawks territory, but the defense came up big with a critical interception by Chris Barone.
In the second half, River Dell's special teams continued to excel, as Tate Levine blocked a punt deep in Morris Hills' territory.
In the fourth quarter, defensive back Jake Van Wettering rose to the occasion, intercepting a pass with a spectacular leaping grab. He then dashed down the left side of the field, setting the Golden Hawks up at the Knights' 16-yard line.
Facing a third and goal at the one-yard line, quarterback Mark Spano took the snap in shotgun formation, dropped back in the pocket, rolled to his left, and delivered a pass to Noah Choflet, who managed to secure the catch despite being surrounded by a swarm of defenders in the end zone. This touchdown sealed the Golden Hawks' win.
The Golden Hawks will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th, facing Bergenfield at Bergenfield High School, with kickoff scheduled for 9 a.m.
